When Should I Opt for Breast Lift Surgery?
If you have sagging breasts due to reasons such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, sudden weight change and aging, if you have sagging in your nipple or the tissue surrounding the nipple, and if your doctor thinks that it will not be possible to give the desired shape to the breast using only prosthesis, you may prefer breast lift surgery.
How is Breast Lift Surgery Performed?
Breast lift surgery can be performed with many different techniques. In the first technique, an “Inverted T” shaped incision is made around the nipple. This incision descends vertically from the nipple to the breast fold and continues horizontally along the fold. This technique is generally used in patients with advanced breast sagging. In our second technique, a “Lollipop” incision is made and the incision continues vertically from the nipple to the lower breast fold. This technique is generally used to lift breasts with moderate sagging. For patients with mild sagging, an incision is made only around the nipple. In all techniques, the tissues around the nipple are liberated first. Then, the excess tissue in the surrounding breast tissue is removed and the breast is given its new shape. After shaping, the nipple can be sewn to its ideal place.
